Silly Government…

20 December 2007 3 views 2 Comments

so today the BBC informs me that under new government plans drivers caught using a mobile phone could face up to 2 years in jail…seems to me that the government don’t know what they’re doing once again…there is currently a problem with overcrowding in jails and I don’t think that giving mobile phone users a sentence longer than some rapists get is the solution…roll on Cameron!

It seems like highlighting how dangerous talking on your phone whilst driving can be is a good thing - but, as you say, jail sentences seem a bit strange what with all the overcrowding. Why not simply raise the fine to £1,000 or something?

I’d be careful with the “grass is always greener” stuff.

Yeah I agree that talking on phones is dangerous…I always use a hand-free if I use my phone at all whilst driving…jail sentences did seem a bit strange, I think upping the fine would hit people harder.

Perhaps the grass will be greener, to be honest I don’t particually understand huge amounts of politics so it’s more of a throw-away comment than anything!
